Located off the coast of Xiamen in mainland China, Kinmen has had Minnan (Southern Fujian) immigrants for centuries, resulting in a strong Minnan architectural culture on the island. Since 1949, for over seventy years, Kinmen has served as the frontline of the Republic of China. Millions of young men have served in the military here, dedicating their youth and fulfilling their duty to protect the nation, making it the closest point of long-term cross-strait observation. After the implementation of the "Mini Three Links" in 2001, Kinmen gradually lifted some military restrictions and transitioned to developing its tourism industry. The unique history and background of Kinmen are the main inspirations for our team's design.

We believe that the "Tumei Museum" in Kinmen should be distinct from other libraries and art museums, showcasing a completely different appearance with its unique character and beauty exclusive to Kinmen. The Tumei Museum should not appear as a foreign entity landing on Kinmen but rather as a contemporary new life growing from this land. It should connect Kinmen's past, present, and future: proud of Kinmen's past but not confined by it, integrating the past and introducing contemporary elements with a modest yet confident demeanor, standing tall with Kinmen as they move forward together into the future.
